Graduation Requirements for Regents &
Advanced Regents Diploma
A minimum of 22.5 units of credit is required for graduation from Sherman Central School. A unit of credit is earned by passing a full-year, 40 minute course or half-year, 80 minute course. A half-unit of credit is earned by passing a half-year, 40 minute class.
Regents Exams for each discipline are listed below and are given throughout the school year in January, June and August.
English: ELA
Social Studies: Global History II and U.S. History
Math: Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II
Science: Living Environment, Earth Science, Chemistry and Physics

*This is the traditional combination, there is also a Pathway, Math and Science Combination. Pathway Combination (other than STEM): ELA, 1 social studies, 3 mathematics, 2 science (1 must be life science and 1 must be physical science), and either 1 Pathway (other than science or mathematics) or meet the requirements for the CDOS Commencement Credential = 7 or 8 Assessments STEM (Mathematics) Pathway Combination: ELA, 1 social studies 4 mathematics, 2 science (1 must be life science and 1 must be physical science) = 8 Assessments. STEM (Science) Pathway Combination: ELA, 1 social studies, 3 mathematics, 3 science (1 must be life science and 1 must be physical science) = 8 Assessments. In addition, a student must pass either a locally developed Checkpoint B LOTE examination or complete a 5 unit sequence in the Arts or CTE.
NOTE: Students must pass all Regents Exams with a 65% to obtain a Regents or Advanced Regents Diploma.
Remediation (Title I) and Academic Intervention Services (AIS) are provided for those students who have scored below the New York State reference points (65% on any Regents examination; or Level 1 or 2 on Grades 3-8 English and Mathematics exams).
